Review: JimmyJane Chroma

Somehow in my ten years of blogging, I have only read about JimmyJane products. This is kind of wild when you think about it, given they were all over for a few years, both good and bad. But when they reached out to me to try the updated versions of their toys, I had to jump on the chance. Finally getting an opportunity to really experience this particular brand was a lovely way to kick off my new year. The first of these toys is the Chroma bullet, so let’s get into it.

Chroma Stats

The Chroma is an iconic JimmyJane toy. It’s a slim bullet vibrator made of non-porous aluminum. This high-powered bullet lets you choose between five vibration modes and five different levels of intensity.

To activate the Chroma, press and hold the power button for two-plus seconds. It will start on the medium vibrational power setting. To increase vibrational power, press the plus (+) button. Decrease vibrational power, press the minus (-) button. To cycle through the five different pulsating patterns, press the power button. Press and hold the power button for two-plus seconds to turn off the bullet.

This bullet is waterproof and fully submersible, so it is safe for the tub or shower. It charges via a magnetic USB cord, with a run time of 45 min and a recharge time of 120 min.

So What Do I Think?

I’ve owned metal toys in the past, but they are all solid steel. The Chroma is the first metal vibrator that I have ever owned. At the idea of it, there was some worry that it would be loud upon turning it on. So, I was left very happily surprised upon initially opening the packaging that it was rather quiet. Not whisper quiet, but quiet enough that you can use it with the door to your room closed and know no one is going to hear it.

I found the detail that it starts on the second level of speed to be interesting. It is something that my brain skipped over later during testing. A rather nice surprise during initial testing The cool and very buzzy touch of the Chroma was almost too much for me right away. Once the aluminum warmed up, however, it was easier to slowly start to push the speed higher. While the Chroma is powerful, that power holds a great buzzing feeling in its vibrations. Enough that I personally couldn’t find myself able to use it to achieve orgasm. I do feel like if you are someone who really enjoys that buzzy feeling, this will be an enjoyable vibrator.

I will say, I do love how nice and light the Chroma is. With the most metal toys, I tend to expect some weight. However, the aluminum is of course nothing like steel so that really helps. The extra length also made this comfortable to use over standard bullet vibrators. I had more than enough to hold on to. This toy definitely goes on my list of toys I would suggest to fat-bodied individuals, as well as anyone who needs a toy that is light to hold.

Button Issues

The only real downside that I found to the Croma was the button layout. Frequently on instinct, my fingers went for the raised middle to control the toy. Given that this is the control for not only on/off but to scroll through the patterns, I was frustrated just a little. It takes a bit of getting used to if you are someone who relies on touch instead of memory to work controls. It isn’t a deal-breaking downside, but it is one that should be noted.

Overall Thoughts

The final word on the JimmyJane Chroma is if you are looking for an accessible and buzzy bullet vibrator, this is a great one to consider. While it wasn’t fully what I would look for in a toy, that only means that there are for certain others who would enjoy it.

You can get the Chroma direct from JimmyJane on their website for $125 in pink like shown, or in a lovely brushed space grey color. The price tag is high, but I do feel like the toy is one that will last to be worth how much you are spending for it in the end.

Thank you to JimmyJane for sending me the Chroma in exchange for this unbiased review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
