Review: Slow Sex Clitoral Balm

Review: Slow Sex Clitoral Balm

Before this review, I will be honest I didn’t know much in the way about simulating balms. While I had heard of them, I had never actually used them. I decided to be curious. When Shevibe offered the Slow Sex Clitoral Balm by Bijoux Indiscrets to review, I took it!

Slow Sex Clitoral Balm

The Clitoral Balm is only one piece of the Slow Sex line from Bijoux Indiscrets. It is their cosmetics line that is all meant to stimulate foreplay and sex. Used with a partner or even on your own. The balm, in this case, is created to stimulate the nerve endings of the clit. Causing not only a warming sensation but extra sensation and sensitivity. Once applied with the finger to the clit, it works almost immediately. It is also said to work for an average of 40 minutes. The three main ingredients that cause these effects are:

  • Ginseng (sensation)
  • Arginine (sensitivity)
  • Menthol (warming)

The full ingredient list: Aqua (Water), Ethylhexyl Cocoate, Glycerin, Caprylic/capric Triglyceride, Ceteareth-20, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Sorbitol, Aroma (Flavour), Pfaf_a Glomerata Root Juice, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Arginine Pca, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Carbomer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Triethanolamine, Potassium Sorbate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium Edta, Sodium Saccharin, 1,2-hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Menthyl Lactate, Vanillyl Butyl Ether, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate.

A lot of things are mostly meant to keep the balm in a cream form or so that it is softening to the skin. Along with some fragrance for a sort of minty coconut smell. They all tend to be used in cosmetics and are listed as safe. But if you have allergies to any of the ingredients it is best to avoid this product. As of course, you would not want to put it in a sensitive area.

How Does It Work?

The clitoral balm works by heightening sensations during sex. The menthol causes warming. Ginseng increases blood flow in the clit, activating nerve endings. And once it is fully absorbed, arginine will increase your sensitivity to touch. Because the area of the clitoris is all absorbent skin it sinks in and should aid in making orgasms easier.

So What Did I Think?

I decided to test the Slow Sex Clitoral Balm four ways. With my fingers, with a clitoral vibrator, an air pressure toy, and a wand. All four being ways that I normally seek orgasm as clitoral stimulation is the way that I get off most frequently.

With Fingers

I will be honest, I don’t use my fingers often. I used to before having sex toys. So using the balm with just my fingers was interesting. I could feel the changes in sensitivity and how it caused my clit to engorge more. I will say it normally takes a long time for me to orgasm using my fingers. Due to my hand getting tired. However, with the clitoral balm applied it made it much easier. But before the sensations could be done, my hand gave up.

With Clitoral Vibe

Clitoral vibes are one of my two go-to toys when it comes to wanting to achieve orgasm. With the balm on, I found that the sensations and sensitivity were certainly heightened. Though as the warming spread out it was hard to get that pinpoint feeling. A few times so that I could get any sensation I was laying much of the vibe along my clit and labia. Rubbing with my whole hand. It was clear that this may be needed more vibration coverage.

With An Air Pressure Vibe

Now, when I want a quick and dirty orgasm. I reach for air pressure toys. They do the trick with no issue. However, this was the exact opposite when I used the balm. At first, it was amazing I didn’t get off quickly. So I thought that maybe it was going to prolong things. But about the time I would have had an orgasm, I found myself numb. My clit then gave up. It was overwhelmed. It was a first, I had never experienced that before.

With A Wand

Wands always tend to give me my best orgasms. The broad head means I am getting sensation on more than just my clit. But what I found quickly was this was the best option. Because the sensitivity and sensation are heightened with the balm, it is more than just the outer bits getting that blood flow. Once the balm really kicked in I felt it turn things up to 11 between my legs. I couldn’t think much until AFTER I had already orgasmed a couple of times, having had to just toss the wand on the bed. Leaving it to vibrate as I came down from literally shaking.

Yeah, when you find how it works best for you. This stuff works. While I would not do this for say, every sexual session. It certainly is going to be used when I want to really rev things up.

Overall Thoughts

As a newbie to balms and such, I was actually super impressed by the Slow Sex Clitoral Balm. Honestly, it makes me want to try the WHOLE Slow Sex line if I can. This is something that changes things up for me in ways I had not really thought of. If you are looking to switch things up in the bedroom either with a partner or solo. The Clitoral Balm could be something to add to your bedroom arsenal.
