Review: Black Cake Zodiac Massage Candle

Review: Black Cake Zodiac Massage Candle

It is not often that I review things outside of toys and accessories. So when I saw the Black Cake Zodiac Massage Candles on Shevibe. I decided to step outside my norm and try something new!

Massage candles are a great way to set the mood and play with the senses. Not just with a partner but alone as well. The warm oils and wax heat up as the room fills with the fragrance. Once blown out it cools to the touch so you can put the wax onto skin. Making a massage sensual and even a little seductive.

Black Cake Zodiac Massage Candle

Black Cake’s Zodiac massage candles come in two different scents, vanilla, and garden floral. I opted myself for the vanilla which is all white in color. Each one with a different sign on the outside. A cis couple in a different position on each candle. Though they do also carry one of each scent with a gay couple on the outside in all of the positions. When it came to choosing I went with my own sign, Scorpio.

The candle is made of 100% Natural Coconut and Soybean Wax based with the Natural Fragrance Oils Apricot Oil, Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil with a hint of Vanilla Fragrance. It has a burn time of 40 hours and weighs 8oz. The candle itself is 3.5″ tall x 3.25″ wide, so it sits nicely on most bedside tables.

So What Did I Think?

Starting with the scent, I found it to be light and pleasant. Not very overwhelming when using it as a candle. The wax heats up very quickly because it has a low melting point. What I found tricky after letting it cool was finding a way to pour the wax. The candle is round all the way around, there is no pour spout. This made trying to get it onto the skin a little hard. I felt like I was pouring too much or too little. I did try just dipping my fingers in, but once the wax touches anything else it cools rather quickly. This left it feeling almost sticky as I rubbed it in.

The oils on the skin left a slight barrier that was obvious. Never quite sinking in. I think this was due to both the soy and coconut wax. So I felt the need to shower afterward. The scent on the skin also is a lot stronger.

The fragrance is that of vanilla fragrance. So if you do not like the faux vanilla scent you may want to skip this. I wish that the sweet scent was cut with something else. Perhaps sandalwood or even citrus. I think it would have made the vanilla less overpowering as a single note fragrance.

If you are sensitive to fragrances, I would stear clear of this as I was told by those in my house it was very strong on me.

Overall Thoughts

The Black Cake Zodiac Massage Candles are cute. If you are into that sexy witchy vibe they can make a great bedside candle. These could also make a really lovely gift for a birthday or even anniversary. They do take a little getting used to in how to use. Though even if you don’t use it all the time as a massage oil, it is still a cute candle.
