Review: California Dreaming West Coast Wave Rider

Time to be a little honest here. I have kind of avoided rabbit toys ever since I had a bad experience with one during the start of exploring my sexuality in my 20s. And almost twenty years is a long time to have a grudge with a particular type of toy. Especially when there are so many different shapes and sizes these days. Enter, the California Dreaming series from CalExotic. Upon seeing what they had to offer, the West Coast Wave Rider caught my eye.

West Coast Wave Rider and summery accessories (Sunglasses, Hand Fan, Flower Crown)

The California Dreaming West Coast Wave Rider is just one of many new vibrators from CalExotic. This silicone-covered rabbit vibrator has a rotating and pulsing G-spot massager as the internal arm of the toy. The external clitoral arm is rounded on the bottom to allow for broad stimulation. There are also three fluttering teasers along the inside curve to allow for more stimulation. The external arm has 10 functions of independent vibration, pulsation, and escalation, while the internal arm has 3 speeds. Both arms can work independently from each other. It also has a memory chip so that it remembers the last settings you used on the toy from when you turned it off. These are controlled by three unlabeled buttons; the bottom for external and the middle for the internal arm, and the top is off/travel lock.

It is rechargeable via USB, taking about 2.5 hours to charge when the battery is fully out. At the highest speed, it runs for 40 minutes, and about 150 minutes at low speeds. It also has a travel lock to keep it from turning on in a bag or in storage. To turn it on the travel lock, hold the top button until all lights turn off. To turn it off, hold down the top button until the bottom light turns on. Because the charge port is internal, this toy is fully waterproof, making it usable in both the shower and tub.

Measurements:

  • 4.5″ x 1.5″ / 11.5 cm x 3.75 cm (shaft)
  • 2.25″ x 1″ / 5.75 cm x 2.5 cm (stimulator)
  • 8.5″ x 2″ / 21.5 cm x 5 cm (overall)

So What Did I Think?

Right out of the box, I was a little unhappy with the buttons lacking any indication of which one was for what function. While it is labeled in the instructions, I personally rely on touch to figure out which button is which during use. Just a small thing to me, but one worth noting.

Getting into using the toy, the first thing I noticed was the internal arm is very stiff, save for the ribbed section that holds the rotation mechanism. As someone who likes a lot of squish to their silicone, this was a little rough to switch to. But I did find it was both necessary and useful. The ridged head, when rotating inside, will brush up against the g-spot for continual stimulation. Which feels very good, but I don’t orgasm from internal stimulation alone. That is where the external arm comes in!

Now due to having a fleshy labia, the fluttering parts once they reach my clit are rather smushed down. But the one on top is the broadest and still targets the area nicely. The rest of the curve presses into my flesh just enough to almost feel like the edge of a wand toy against my clit. So using that alone was nice even with the toy just inside me and no rotation turned on.

But oh boy, when you put the two together, my dear readers… I was floored. Almost literally. At mid-orgasm, I was so taken by how good it felt that I nearly rolled off the side of my bed. That has got to be some sort of orgasm achievement. I never knew a rabbit-style vibrator could be this good.

Overall Thoughts

While I am pleasantly surprised with how my experience with the California Dreaming West Coast Wave Rider went, I am happier that rabbit designs have gained as much variety as they have in the past 20 or so years. And that I was able to find one that worked well with my body type. If you are looking for a rabbit vibrator to fit your body, you may enjoy the West Coast Wave Rider. Or any of the other options in the California Dreaming line. You can find them all at Betty’s Toy Box, where the West Coast Wave Rider is $99.99.

Thank you Betty’s Toy Box for sending me the West Coast Wave Rider in exchange for this unbiased review. All words and thoughts are my own.
